Voici ce qu'on peut lire sur le site The Magic Box pour le 8 Juin :

Sega aurait donc déposé le nom "System SP" pour une nouvelle carte d'arcade aux USA. Aucun détail à ce niveau (pour l'instant c'est juste une constatation de dépôt de copyright) donc en attendant d'en savoir plus, la discussion est ouverte à toutes suppositions et idées...
Nom final de NAOMI 3 ou véritable nouvel hardware ?
"System SP" est un nom qui semble renouer avec les anciens hardwares 2D de Sega "System 16", "System 24", "System 32"... et SP fait inévitablement penser à "GBA SP"... se pourrait-il qu'il s'agisse d'une borne 2D basée sur la GBA ? Aujourd'hui on peut s'attendre à tout !

Intéressant Pour le rapport avec la GBA, euh, j'y crois pas trop SEGA a toujours inventé, jamais copié Le retour au "System X" me plait, j'aimais bien cette appellation qui a, c'est vrai, mis fin à l'ère 2D C'est peut-être dans un esprit particulier en hommage à cette période qu'ils ont choisi ce nom...

Je plaisantais évidemment (caricature), elle était facile...
A noter que Sega n'a pas été le seul à utiliser une appellation "System x", Namco l'a fait aussi avec ses System 11, 12, 21, 22, 23...

S'ils basaient une borne d'arcade sur la GBA/GBA SP, ça serait taggé "Advance" plutôt que SP à mon avis
Je n'en vois pas trop l'intérêt d'ailleurs, y'a des références bien plus performantes... |

SEGA previously utilised PowerVR technology as the basis of its Naomi and Naomi2 arcade platforms, which were employed not only by SEGA but also by many of the other leading amusement game companies.
