En ce moment se déroule en Amérique le Video Games Live, un concert tour de musiques de jeux vidéo de tous horizons, dont Sega, mené par un véritable orchestre, épaulé de choristes !

Site officiel : http://www.videogameslive.com

Au programme :

Mario™, Zelda®, Halo®, Metal Gear Solid®, Warcraft®, Myst®, Final Fantasy®, Castlevania®, Medal of Honor™, Sonic™, Tron, Tomb Raider®, Advent Rising, Headhunter, Beyond Good & Evil™, Splinter Cell®, Ghost Recon™, Rainbow Six®, EverQuest® II and a special retro arcade segment that goes from Pong® to Donkey Kong®!

Sonic the Hedgehog and Headhunter tunes play out to 10,000-strong crowd at the Hollywood Bowl.

Lit up like the spaceship from Close Encounters and home to enough celebs to make a gossip columnist wince, Video Games Live at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, last week was a true coming of age for gaming.

Some 10,000 people packed out the venue for the show that, with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra, a full choir and a troupe of associated singers and performers, was the biggest concert of its kind ever seen in America.

Video Games Live featured the scores of many a modern-day chart-topper, from Halo to Metal Gear Solid and Headhunter: Redemption, while the simple brilliance of Sonic's classic themes were rendered anew with orchestrations from former SEGA Europe homeboy Richard Jacques, composer of Sonic 3D, Headhunter and OutRun2 soundtracks, among many others.

While light and laser displays played over the crowd, the music was supported by a massive screen showing in-game footage behind the musicians, along with live theatre-style action at the front of the stage.

After sending us a batch of cool pictures from the event, Jacques told us: "I couldn't resist making the choir sing "SE-GA" at the beginning of the Sonic medley. Even Yuji Naka loved it!"

Sonic the Hedgehog's creator was just one of a huge bevy of games industry luminaries in attendance. The end of the night saw a role call of leading game designers and composers take to the stage to the cheers of the massive crowd, where they were joined by A-list Hollywood gamers Elijah Wood and Stan Lee.

Jacques, a close buddy of organisers and fellow game composers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, also orchestrated a medley of arcade classics to get the show underway. Beginning with the bleeps of the original Pong, the orchestra gradually joined in to eventually perform renditions of Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and other retro favourites.

But Jacques says his SEGA music went down particularly well, with fans clamouring for autographs prior to the show.

"Fans were asking for signatures on everything from Sonic 3D and Sonic R right up to Headhunter and Headhunter: Redemption. I was interviewed by many press, including MTV and G4TV amongst others. The reviews have been amazing and many people said Headhunter was among their favourites of the show."

The Hollywood show marked the beginning of a nationwide tour that will run through August and September, taking in 17 North American cities along the way. Co-organiser Tallarico has said, however, that should the tour be successful, it could very well wind its way to Europe and other parts of the world over the coming months.

Don't miss Richard Jacques' photos from the show.

Reste qu'à espérer qu'ils sortiront un best of vidéo de cet évennement Sourire
(ça serait sympa si ça pouvait déteindre en Europe !)
